About Us

Two friends sit amid the hills of Chianti, overlooking a seemingly endless valley of vineyards. They sip at the delectable carmine nectar of the year’s harvest and stare out toward the renaissance city of Florence, one swears that even from here he can make out the unmistakable silhouette of Duomo di Firenze. The even passes, the warm Tyrrhenian air falling over Tuscany as though it were tucking the region under a blanket ready for bed. The two men spend the night swapping stories and sampling a beautiful selection of wines beneath the star-lit sky, until one turns to his friend and says “I wish we could bring some of these back home”, “well, why don’t we?” the other pondered. Thus, The Cellar was born.
For two years The Cellar served the community as Leigh-on-Sea’s favourite wine bar (it’s in Essex). With a dedicated and knowledgeable team, we aimed to provide only the highest standards of hospitality and ensured that every guest’s visit was a memorable one.

It is no secret that 2020 has provided significant challenges to small businesses across the country, but in the face of adversity we chose to adapt and overcome. Knowing that it would have been impossible to keep our patrons safe in the cosy confines of our intimate little wine bar, we refitted and became Cellar Wine Shop: a wine merchants and wholesaler.
